Re: Declan Rice contract situation
200k a week if true apparently would him in the top 20 players in the premier league

I mean that is a massive statement

Unless my website is wrong Kane is also on 200k a week

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
I’m surprised we offered another contract if we had no indication he would be willing to sign…

Moyes pulling the contract offer for soucek as well. (They can’t really play together)

Will we go back big in the summer if (IF) we get champions league football I can’t imagine him turning down £250k a week not sure many teams offer more than that..

What an end to the gold/sully era that would be

You really have to ask if Claret and Hugh have West Ham's best interest at heart - or if successful clickbait means more to them.

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
He will stay another year if Claret and Hugh is to be believed and definitely if (big IF now with our severe injured) we win the Europa

The media BS rumor mill will be in full swing however as they try b desperation to land the dream “you read it here first” story. Don’t believe a word of it.

Don’t be shocked if PSG come sniffing.? They will start a bit of a rebuild in the summer. And money will be thrown around.

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
If we win Europa League he stays for Champs League.

I must say I've gone off him a bit knowing he has rejected 200k.

That should be enough to keep someone at a club for life.

Given the £150m+ price he would command very few clubs could afford him as it stands.
We have him until 2025 on the current contract. Plenty of time to sort something out if we continue on an upward trajectory.

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
Makes sense for Declan to sit it out here for another year on the current contract. He’ll only move to a club that will be competing at the highest level, and that should rule out Man Utd and possibly Chelsea while there is the ownership and investment uncertainty.

Klopp and Guardiola are likely to only have a couple of years left respectively, so even those two prime possibilities have their uncertainties. Another year to check out how things settle down will suit all parties.

I reckon maybe City next year, after they’ve sorted Haaland this summer. He’s pretty matey with Jack Grealish in the England set up so will already have any inside gossip.

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
I don't think Declan is too worried about the money or he'd have signed for higher wages long before now. I think he wants to keep his opinions open and is avoiding getting a contract that makes it harder to leave if our bubble bursts.

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
Pedro if he signs a long term contract on big money it will make club's position even stronger which would see the number of clubs interested in Dec plummet. The only way he signs a contract is if there's a release clause included or if we replace half of the starting 11 in the summer

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
Why did they spend a few million on getting Lingard on loan when we were already safe then?

Stop making things up.

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
If the Dildo Duo's business plan is continuous PL survival each season, then that is all they will spend/budget for.

I've seen/heard/read nothing that indicates otherwise.

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
One thing can’t understand is if we have genuinely offered something good why wouldn’t he sign?

It’s not as if a 5 year deal keeps him locked to us. He will still leave anyway.

He won’t run his contract down either.

If we have offered 200k a week he would sign it. Why not have that for a year and still leave.

We all know he will leave . It won’t be this summer due to the World Cup but will go the summer after unless we are still challenging at top of table

Mike Oxsaw 12:28 Sat Apr 23
Re: Declan Rice contract situation
He needs to be in a club that matches his ambitions.

Only club owners are in a position to offer that option.

Sajmo1 12:21 Sat Apr 23
Re: Declan Rice contract situation
He wouldn't accept 500k if we offered him. He's ambitious and there's no way he signs a contract unless we qualify for cl and bring some quality players in

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
Let’s be objective here and ignore the paranoia. At this time of the season there is speculation, in the media, about any player not in a top four club, but good enough, being on the move.

The difference between Rice and other home grown players like Cole, Carrick, Defoe is that Rice is an established international and the club are in a much better position than when Terry Brown had stewardship.

If I were Rice I would only consider joining one of the top three and tbh with Chelsea in a state of flux over ownership issues would opt to join either Man City or Liverpool.

Sullivan won't buy players to just sit on the bench; he's got qualifications in Economics, don't you know?

He needs to minimise cost per minute played on all his team assets. Subs & squad players screw that up.

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
I’ve got a feeling that this summer we will sign some players that Rice is MATES with but then again it could be total hopeful bollocks on my part…..we’ve not shown any ambition to even build around him with players of the same ilk which leads to an all or nothing situation and we’ve surely had enough nothings?

Lee Trundle 12:03 Sat Apr 23
Re: Declan Rice contract situation
I wouldn't be adverse to the idea of having a release clause in his contract, for £150m for example.

I suppose the ball is well in the clubs court though with his contract situation. That dangling carrot might have to be used next summer if the club plan to reject all offers now.

Re: Declan Rice contract situation
If we don't at least qualify for the Europa League he'll be off, even that wouldn't guarantee him staying.

We should have used a bit of common sense and shown a bit of ambition in January and strengthened the squad to give us the best chance of this, but we didn't bother.

You reap what you sow.

ludo21 11:50 Sat Apr 23
Re: Declan Rice contract situation
Very surprised if he isn't with us next season... as others have said, why would he join Man Utd now, Chelsea are also in a mess. As are both Spanish giants.

Either of those two clubs in a years time will probably be more attractive propositions and he would be able to demand double what we are prepared to pay him.

We need to just enjoy him while we have him and hope England win the World Cup later this year with him starring as a hammer!

Then you never know, add a few decent players, qualify for CL and he might stay longer.
